Evolvulus

Blue Daze

Blue Daze – Evolvulus glomeratus, Evolvulus nuttallianus, is a heat tolerant plant that does well in sun or part shade. It has small beautiful true blue flowers. This plant has gray-green foliage with no real pest or disease problems. It is a shrubby, low growing, mounding plant. Evolvulus performs well in beds with other plants, as a groundcover or in containers and window boxes. Planted at the edges of bed, it will drape over the edges to soften the garden.

Plant in well drained raised beds in moist soils. it grows 8-10 inches and should be spaced 8-12 inches apart in garden beds. The small blue open-faced flowers close in the heat of the day during mid summer. This plant blooms from spring to frost but cannot survive freezing temperatures.

Evolvulus

The variety, ‘Blue My Mind’ is shorter than blue daze at 6 – 12 inches tall with a spread of 12 – 24 inches. It trails up to 24 inches and should be spaced 8 – 12 inches. Evolvulus is a beautiful clean looking plant that performs well in our hot temperatures and should be used more often.
